Review of Koedoeberg Tea Garden

Rarely ever visiting the leafy suburb of Faerie Glen in Pretoria, I stumbled across Koedoeberg Tea Garden on the internet, and decided to give it a try. It was a lovely sunny day, and as such, we decided to make a little detour first, and have a peek at the grand mansions of the rich and famous that line the streets just a few hundred meters from Koedoeberg Tea Garden. Oh, to be a millionaire... *sigh*

After some 'street-seeing', it was time for lunch. We found Plot 6 easy enough, and as soon as we drove up to the entrance, we started to feel the stress of the city slip away. Koedoeberg Tea Garden is one of those little hide-a ways in the city, and it is a shame that it not marketed more widely.

The friendly staff showed us to our table, and although the menu does not have a huge variety, we were able to find something scrumptious for each of us. What a delight! Starters included fresh baked bread and liver pâté... An absolute treat, and 10/10 for the delicious liver pâté...!

The portion size of the main course were more than enough, but, since everything up to now has been fabulous, we opted for dessert as well. I have not had plain old ice-cream and chocolate sauce as delicious as Koedoeberg's in a long time.

After a very pleasing lunch, we had a stroll through the sculpture garden. It was nice enough, but the garden seemed to be in need of some care to make it look pretty again.

I suppose I don't really have an eye for art, as I found the art on display in the Tina Skukan Art Gallery quite plain. But then again, I'm not an artist at all, and are not qualified to give professional commentary on it. Perhaps our art-inclined readers will appreciate it more.

At the end of the day, if you are looking for a place to delight the senses and leave you relaxed and ready for the week ahead, give Koedoeberg Tea Garden a try.
